the journey is ending...

Sometimes I feel like I will be pregnant forever.  But I know that's not possible.  His 'due date' (it's more like a guess date) is tomorrow and I hope I'm a lucky one who gets to enjoy their baby from the outside instead of the inside for another week.  I'm already at 4 cm and 80% effaced.  So...I feel like he is close to coming.  But you never know.  We had some family pictures taken recently with the dogs and we got some of my belly too.  Our friend Whitney took them and we love the pics.  Hopefully the next post will be of the little guy. (Of course it will cuz obviously I don't write very often).

vegas baby!

Dave and I celebrated our 3rd year of marriage this year.  I can't believe it's been 3 years.  We decided we wouldn't have a chance to just relax in the years to come since we have a little one coming soon, so we went to Vegas and just relaxed.  It was a fun little vacation.  We went swimming and lounged around in our very nice hotel room.  I kept the temperature around 68.  I was in heaven.  We got to spend some time with Mark and Yoko which was a lot of fun.  We also saw the Blue Man Group.  It was a great show.  Well worth it.  The best part was how much our baby enjoyed it as well.  At least we think he enjoyed it.  It seemed like he was dancing.  There was a lot of noise going on and lights flashing.  He was moving around like crazy, more than usual.  It's kind of fun to think that he is reacting to his environment already.  Overall it was a great trip.

happy father's day

So the baby was moving around like crazy and the thought crossed my mind - I wonder if this can be felt from the outside?  So I put my hand on my belly and felt the little movements.  I called Dave over excitedly and he felt the baby for the first time.  It was really amazing!

it's a boy!

That was a fun appointment.  We went to UVRMC to get the standard 20 week ultrasound.  Nick was with us since my parents are in Hawaii.  I think Nick thought it was cool and enjoyed seeing his little nephew.  The doctor was really nice and kind of funny.  He was very informative.  Everything looked normal and the baby is growing well so that is comforting.  It was really cool to see him move.  He moved his hand up to his face at one point and then also was opening and closing his mouth.  The doctor did the 3D ultrasound at the end.  That kind of looked weird.  It's comforting to know that he is growing well and looks healthy.  We went out and bought some baby clothes right after.  I couldn't resist now that I know what it's going to be.  Dave found a little outfit that says Daddy's Caddy on the front.  Of course we had to get it.  He is really excited that he is going to have a little boy to golf with.

all is well

So I had an appointment on Tuesday.  Everything is good - blood pressure, weight gain, etc... The midwife found the heartbeat this time.  It took her awhile though.  It's comforting to hear the heartbeat.  I go a month between appointments and wonder if everything is alright.  The midwife asked if I have felt it move and I explained what I felt and thought was the baby.  She said it's still too early for the baby to feel like it's poking.  So, I guess I didn't feel it move last week.  Must have just been a muscle twitching.  My tummy is definately getting bigger.  It's kind of a weird feeling - there is something there, not just fat, even though I feel fat.  We have an ultrasound scheduled for June 9th.  It's at the hospital by our house, not the one in Orem.  It's a radiologist that specializes in babies.  That will be exciting to see the baby again and find out what we're having.  Even though we have a hunch....

moving?

On Wednesday, which was 16 weeks for the little one, I was lying on my side resting because of a pretty bad headache and I thought I felt it move.  It was different than anything I've felt.  It was like I was being poked from the inside.  There were two pokes in the same spot and then a third a couple seconds later in the same spot.  I haven't felt anything like that since though.  I'd like to think that it was the baby.  Dave's excited for when he can feel it moving.

happy mother's day!

Here is our baby!  It was taken at about 13 weeks.  The baby measured a week ahead however.  Still too early to tell if it's a boy or girl...but Dave and I suspect it's a boy.  The reason we got an ultrasound is kind of interesting.  It was only my second appointment and we were told we would get to hear the heartbeat.  I was pretty excited about that and the day before I just started thinking about it.  As I was thinking about it, I had  an impression that we wouldn't hear the heartbeat but everything would be fine.  Sure enough the next day the midwife couldn't find the heartbeat.  I had told Dave about the impression so we both felt calm and at peace the whole time.  The midwife was more worried.  I'm glad I had that experience the day before or I probably would have lost it.  Anyways, the baby was fine and we got to hear the heartbeat during the ultrasound.  We got to see it move too.  Life definitely is a miracle.

giving in...

I swore I would never be a blogger, but I have finally given in.  The reason is purely for keeping-in-touch reasons.  Since we have a little one coming, I decided it was time to start a blog in order to share our family with you in an easy way.  So, if you want it, here is our blog.
